Since I bought my HP Spectre x360 laptop in 2023, the touchpad never worked properly. Now it's even totally deconnected and it doesn't appear in system settings. I contacted HP many time during guarantee period but they were not able to fix my issue.

If you're experiencing issues with the touchpad on your HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 Laptop, here is a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Hard Reset:
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Remove any connected peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter and turn on the computer.
Update Drivers via Windows Update
- Run Windows Update:
- In Windows, search for "Check for updates" and open it.
- Install any available updates.
- Restart your computer after updates are installed.
Conduct Hardware Diagnostics Test
- Test in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI:
- Turn off the computer and hold the power button for 5 seconds for it to shutdown.
- Turn it on and immediately press esc repeatedly until a menu appears. Press f2 for diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests, then Mouse/Touchpad, and follow on-screen instructions to test the hardware.
Software Reset
- Perform a Windows System Reset:
