@Ryan362, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Notebook's touchpad isn't working let’s get that sorted out. Please follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Enable Touchpad via Keyboard

Sometimes the touchpad is accidentally disabled. Try pressing the Function (Fn) key along with the touchpad toggle key (usually F5, F6, or F7, depending on your model, it often has a touchpad icon).

Check Touchpad Settings in Windows

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad.
  3. Ensure the Touchpad toggle is turned On.
  4. Scroll down and check if gestures and sensitivity settings are configured correctly.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. Right-click on your touchpad device (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN, or HID-compliant touchpad) and choose Update driver.
  4. Select Search automatically for drivers.

If that doesn’t help:

  • Right-click the touchpad device again and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your notebook. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.

Download Drivers from HP Support

Visit the official HP Drivers page: Official HP® Support

  1. Enter your notebook’s model number.
  2. Select your operating system.
  3. Download and install the latest Touchpad or Input drivers available.

Use HP Hardware Diagnostics

Run a touchpad test using HP’s built-in diagnostics:

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  3. Select Component Tests > Input Devices > Touchpad Test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
