USB-C to HDMI will not work with any external monitor.

What makes this problem very strange is that the display has worked in the past, however, always disappears for what seems no reason at all.

I know the cable is good.

I know that the USB-C port on the notebook is good.

I know the monitor is good.

I have been playing with the display adaptors and think the problem lies there. I have listed an Intel HD graphics 630 and a Radeon 500 Series listed in the device manager.

Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Please think outside the box on this, I have done ALOT of troubleshooting.

@mason117,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are not getting a display on the external monitor when connected to the USB Type C port on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Are you using a converter or adapter to connect your monitor?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@The_Fossette thank you for contacting me on this matter so soon.

To update you on this problem I have tried 2 different cords that run USB-C to HDMI. Both of them have worked in the past however fail randomly at random times. I also bought a USB-C to HDMI dongle. This option does not work either.

I have gone ahead and download the BIOS update and Graphics drivers restarted the PC with no luck.

I would love to hear other ideas that you think may lead to a fix for this problem.

Thank you for your help with this matter thus far.

@The_Fossette

After doing some more digging on this issue I brought my laptop to a local computer repair shop. Where this problem with the USB-C port was pinned down finally! Turns out this shop has seen many HP pavilions come in their doors with a "known problems" with USB ports on the motherboards not receiving correct power/voltage from the 2017 era.

I would like to open this ticket back up as a 'USB-C power/voltage malfunction'.

Are there any known articles about this problem that HP has dealt with @The_Fossette ?

I was told to investigate warranty information about known problems which are their extended warranty because of known problems with products.
