Does the camera show up in the device manager? Bring up the Windows device manager and try rolling back the camera driver. Possibly a Windows update installed the wrong driver.
Did you try rolling back the camera driver?
It could be the camera driver or the USB driver if the camera is connected to the USB. Many internal cameras are connected to the USB.
In the pictures below you would select the camera driver and then look for 'rollback' If the word "rollback" is grayed out then uninstall it.
If camera driver is the problem
If the problem is the wrong USB driver for the camera
If you cannot rollback the driver then try to find the best one or let windows try. One way is to just uninstall the camera and reboot as described in this official HP document..
If uninstalling or rolling back did not work then see if there is a windows restore point that has a date from when the camera last worked.
