I have my Victus plugged into a generic multiport hub that provides support for 2 monitors. It has worked for years. I tried to launch a new game on the laptop and the screens started flashing at me. I had to shut down the laptop and restart it. When I did that, it no longer recognized the monitors plugged into the multiport hub. It does recognize all other devices plugged into the hub.
I have tried factory resetting the laptop. I have tried doing a hard reset where you hold the power button for 60 seconds and get the CMOS has been reset screen. I have restored the BIOS from a USB flash drive. I have tried everything I can find online to get these monitors recognized and nothing works. Please help.

Hi @ttharp073,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding monitor recognition issues with the USB-C Dock on the Victus 16-d0023dx!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Connections and Restart
Inspect Connections:
- Ensure cables are securely connected to the hub and monitors.
- Test the monitors with another device to confirm they are functioning correctly.
Restart Procedure:
- Disconnect the hub from the laptop.
- Power off the laptop and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for a few minutes, reconnect the hub, and restart the laptop.
Update Drivers
Update Display Drivers:
- Visit the official HP Support website: HP Drivers and Downloads
- Enter your Victus model number (16-d0023dx) and download the latest display drivers.
- Install the drivers following the on-screen instructions.
Update Dock Drivers (if applicable):
- Check the manufacturer's website of the USB-C dock for any firmware or driver updates.
- Download and update the dock’s drivers accordingly.
Configure Display Settings
- Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Under the Multiple displays section, click Detect to manually detect connected monitors.
Reset Graphics Settings
- Enter BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 repeatedly during startup to enter the BIOS setup.
- Restore Defaults:
- Within the BIOS menu, select the option to restore default settings.
- Save changes and exit.
Test the USB-C Port and Hub
Test USB-C Port:
- Try connecting other USB-C devices directly to the laptop’s USB-C port to ensure it is functioning correctly.
- Test another USB-C multiport hub if available.
Test with Single Monitor:
- Connect only one monitor to the hub and see if it gets recognized. This can help identify if the issue is with handling multiple monitors.
I hope this helps.
