Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Problem was this.  After recent Windows 10 updates (now on version 1909), my external monitor connected to an HDMI port stopped receiving signals.  I checked the cable and the monitor on a desktop machine running a legacy operating system, and both the HDMI cable and the monitor functioned fine.  I also hard-started the laptop a couple of times, and also made sure all of my software/firmware was up to date (thru MicroSoft, Intel, and HP sites).   The laptop is new enough it only has one HDMI port for connecting to external monitors.  I have an old ACER VGA projector that will function properly when connected to the laptop using a VGA/HDMI adapter.

The HDMI com has been non-functional for a week now...  I'm guessing this is a compatibility issue between the Windows 10 updates, Intel's graphic drivers, and potentially any items that HP has added for the functioning of the touchscreen system.  I've had no success getting any of those parties to respond to my issue as this is a personal system and my hardware is now about 5 months out of warranty (but less than a year old)...

So to anyone else having this issue, I have successfully  made a work-around to reconnect and use my external monitor.  That being to attach a VGA cable to the monitor, and connect to the HDMI port on my HP laptop using a VGA/HDMI adapter.  That turned out to be approximately $7 for the 3 foot VGA cable and another $7 for the VGA/HDMI adapter on Amazon.  Maybe not much in the long run, but a real annoyance given the time I've spent on "tech" support chats with no answers this past week.
