Webcam trouble

Hello, I bought my laptop about 2 weeks ago and love it however, I've just gone to use my camera and it looks as though it has a negative filter on it. I can't see any option to take a filter off and i'm worried its faulty. I have 30 days return policy on it but would rather not have to send it back as i have set everything up on it.  Ive attached a picture of the image I am getting, Please Help.  WIN_20201003_02_16_01_Pro.jpg

That does look awful...

IF you have not done so, check for a tiny bit of tape covering the lens.

What?  Tape might be used to protect the lens during shipment.

 

What else?

IF your computer has a tiny webcam cover, it would usually be opaque, that is, not easily missed.

 

If your computer has a switch on the side of the notebook to disable the webcam, I would think the webcam would not work at all (when switched to cover / disable). 

 

You can check for covers and switches on the notebook...

Open your computer's homepage > Select Category Manuals > Open and read the first chapter of the User Guide

 

What else?

After having run Windows Update and having updated the HP Software and Drivers,

Contact HP Support (might have to wait for business hours on Monday).

           Warranty Check – Single or Multiple Devices

 

 

       NOTE:  If the single-system-check fails to find your device, use the "multiple devices" method to

check single or multiple devices.

 

  • If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)
  • Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
  • Enter the Serial Number and Country for one or more devices / systems to be checked
  • Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
  • Click Submit (at bottom of list entries)
  • When the page opens, Click View Details
