Spectre x360 13-4136nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! I'm not an expert about digital pen, but I tried to learn something in these days.

I wanted to buy a digital pen for my Spectre x360 13-4136nl so I bought the current HP Active Pen (https://store.hp.com/ItalyStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=1MR94AA&opt=UUF&sel=ACC). When I tried to use it I discovered that it's not compatible with my PC. I also installed updates for my drivers, but nothing changed. HP Active Pen works well on the Surface Pro 2017 of my brother, instead.

This could mean that my PC doesn't support N-trig technology (the technology supported by Surface Pen and the current HP Active Pen), but it should support some other technology as well (Wacom or the old Synaptics).

As I told before I'm not an expert, so it could be that my PC supports both Wacom and Synaptics or, instead, only of them, but I can't find an answer to this. A clue can be that the old HP Active Pen supported Synaptics technology, but I can't find anywhere.

In the end the question is simple: which kind of pen should I buy for my PC? Will Wacom pens work? Are there some Synaptics pens somewhere that I can try?

Thanks for the answers!

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

As per the Service Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04807803, there are no mentions of Active Pen or Stylus for this Model

But you can sue a Passive stylus. A passive stylus  is a pen that acts just like a finger when touching a device screen. There is no communication between a passive stylus and a device.

Thank you
