Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended

Hi everyone,

My HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec1050AX turns on but only shows a white flickering screen. The Caps Lock works, and it shows display on an external monitor via HDMI, so the system is running.

I’ve already re-seated the battery and 40-pin display cable, but the issue remains. A technician said it’s a “100% display issue,” though I suspect it might just be the display cable.

Could anyone confirm if this sounds like a cable fault or a screen issue? Also, is DD0G3HLC100 (40-pin) the correct cable for this model?

Hi @Useless22,

I understand your HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec1050AX shows a white flickering screen even though it works fine with an external monitor. Let’s go through a few checks to help identify whether the issue lies with the display panel or the internal display cable.

Confirm External Display Output

Since your laptop shows normal output on an external monitor, the GPU and motherboard are functioning properly.

This narrows the issue down to the internal display cable or LCD panel.

Check for Backlight and Flicker Behavior

A constant white or flickering white screen usually indicates the display panel isn’t receiving a proper video signal but is still powered — this points more toward a faulty cable or loose connection.

If the screen remains completely black (no backlight), it might be a power issue within the panel.

Inspect the Display Cable

The model DD0G3HLC100 (40-pin) is indeed the correct display cable for the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec1050AX series.

Examine both ends of the cable for bent pins, damage, or looseness near the hinges — these are common failure points.

Test with a Replacement Cable First

Replacing the cable is the more cost-effective and logical first step.

If a new cable doesn’t resolve the white flicker, the issue is likely with the LCD panel itself.

If the Problem Persists

A completely white display even after cable replacement usually confirms a defective LCD panel, where the display controller (T-CON board) has failed.

I hope this helps.
