Usually it caused by incompatible vga device driver. You can try to change the vga device driver, either you downgrade or upgrade the current version installed. Hopefully it would solved your problem.. A feed back would be appreciated.

I too am having a problem with white screens on a HP G62 laptop. I found that if I connect the laptop to an external monitor via HDMI, I can see the screen clearly on the external monitor - even when the laptop screen is all white. I restored the system to before Windows 7 Service Pack 1 was installed and the laptop screen now works.
This is an unsatisfactory solution and will be temporary until the next time that Windows does an update. HP needs to address this issue.

I also had this happen to me today. It has also been almost 2 years since I got this HP G62 laptop (2 years next month).
I woke my laptop up from hiberation as per usual and Windows came back just fine. As soon as I tried to start Firefox, boom - I saw brief color streaks as the screen turned solid white and stayed that way. They keyboard (caps lock light) was still working. I thought Windows had crashed; I forcibly turned the laptop off and back on. But the brief color streaks followed by a white screen returned almost immediately after turning it back on, before any other loading happened. I connected to an external monitor and I saw that the login screen was there as per expected; it was only the display that was faulting.
I then turned the laptop off right from the login screen and left it for a few hours. Then, I tried logging in again using the external monitor. The white screen was back on the laptop. But after I logged into Windows, I looked at the laptop and the screen had returned as per normal. And it remains so now, about an hour later.
Not sure if this means my display is starting to fry, or if there was some weird display driver issue that somehow resolved itself by logging back into Windows.

Try connecting your laptop direct to a regular monitor using the blue port with three rows of holes. It is found on the left side of laptop, near the ESC key. Then while connected to the monitor, if you can see the screen, reboot the laptop. Then remove the connection to the regular monitor. That's how I was able to fix a similar-sounding problem with my laptop.
