Hi @James0760, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy x360 16-ac0000 has a power button light on but the screen stays black, follow these troubleshooting steps:

Basic Troubleshooting

Force Restart

  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds until the laptop turns off.
  • Wait a few seconds, then press the power button again to turn it on.

Check Display Brightness

  • Try pressing F3 (brightness up key) to see if the screen is just dimmed.

External Display Test

  • Connect an external monitor via HDMI/USB-C and check if it shows any display.
  • If the external display works, the issue is with the laptop screen or display cable.

Advanced Troubleshooting

BIOS Recovery (Win + B Method)

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press and hold Win + B, then press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds.
  • Release all keys and wait. If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the prompts.

RAM Reseating (If Comfortable)

  • If possible, open the back panel, remove the RAM sticks, and reinstall them.

Reset CMOS Battery

  • Disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds to reset the CMOS.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
