When i start my laptop it starts, i can see it on a second attached screen but the laptop screen stays black.
How is this possible and what to do to fix this? Whatever i try to do the screen stays black, i can still use the laptop with the second screen but this is not ideal.

Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Disconnect the Second Screen: Unplug the second screen from your laptop and restart it. This ensures that the laptop is trying to use its built-in screen and not the external monitor.
Check Display Settings:
- Press Windows Key + P.
- Ensure that the display is set to PC screen only or Duplicate.
Check for External Damage: Check your laptop's screen for any visible damage or loose connections, especially near the hinge area.
Update or Rollback Graphics Drivers:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Display adapters section.
- Right-click on the display adapter (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA) and select Update Driver. You can also try Rollback Driver if the problem started after an update.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your laptop and press F8 repeatedly to enter the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Choose Safe Mode and see if the screen works in Safe Mode. If it does, the issue may be related to software or drivers.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug all peripherals, including the second screen, and remove the battery if possible.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Plug the battery back in and try starting the laptop again.
Hardware Issue: If none of these step's work, there might be a hardware issue, such as a loose connection or a faulty screen.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
