I have a brand new HP X360 laptop. i brought it home after having geek squad set it up but after about 15 minutes using the computer the screen goes completely black and I have to ctrl, alt, delete to bring up task manager and take it back to what i was working on. I can use it again for a little bit and it will do it again.  Its not like its going to sleep bc you cant bring it back up. I went to setting and told it to stay on even when on batter power but it didnt make any difference.  Any suggestions what this might be?

@JNPepper,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

All right, this is what I would like you to do:

1.) type in cmd in your windows search bar, right-click on the Command Prompt App, and left-click on the Run as administrator button, and Yes to confirm.

Type in (including the space between sfc and /scannow):

sfc /scannow

And enter. This may take a while.  Regardless of whether sfc (System File Checker) found error(s) and fixed them -or not, copy/paste/enter this command:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The execution of this DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) command may also take a while.  Wait patiently for it to complete.  Savor a cup of good Joe or any other preferred beverage.  Life is good.

Now restart your laptop.

See if this fixes your issue.

If not, try this:

Restart your laptop.

If your laptop still suffers from blackouts, let me know.

Kind Regards,
