ok here is the issue
hp compaq 6735s that cant adjust brightness it is set at the lowest setting
ewrithing worked perfectly until windows update decided to install (upgrade) windows 10 on this machine
then the brightnes went to hell, after that update i could not change brightnes lvls either through fn keys or control panel
i tried to redownload drivers for it but it didnt help so i shelved the damnn thing and after a year i thought of reviving it
so i reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 64 bit version (originaly it used windows 7 32 bit) on it and allowed windows to install drivers on its own but nothing was fixed i tried mannualy downloading and installing drivers from hp pages but it didnt fix the problems
i tried deleting and reinstalling monitor drivers in device manager and it didnt work
i tried some of the suggested things on the internet and it didnt help either
the only thing that i didnt try is to change the bios version
in my pursuit for a solution someone suggested changing the bios version might fix it
so now im staring at different bios versions and praying that i dont need to fiddle with it
my bios version is 68gpp ver. F.07. 21. 11. 2008
smbios 2.4
now can somebody help me fix this
ps. i own a really old dell laptop (dell 500) and in its bios there is a little feature to adjust the brightens of the screen so
why is hp not including the same with theirs models

The brightness control generally needs the right video driver to work properly. What is it showing under display adapters in your device manager?
You need the QuickLaunch driver to enable the brightness adjustment keys:

All Win 7 64 bit drivers:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3687622&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4060
I would go ahead and update to the F.21 BIOS if I were you, but that is not the issue with the brightness adjustment.
