Hi @firas8,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What is your exact HP laptop model? (e.g., HP Pavilion 15, HP Envy x360, HP EliteBook, HP Victus, etc.)
  2. Does the camera appear in Device Manager?
    • Under Cameras
    • Imaging Devices
    • or USB Devices
  3. What happens when you open the Camera app?
    • Black screen?
    • “No camera found”?
    • Error code?
  4. Does the small camera indicator light turn on when you try to use the camera?
  5. Has the laptop been dropped, repaired, or had the screen replaced recently?

These answers will help determine whether it’s a software, driver, or hardware issue.

Troubleshooting Steps You Can Try Now

Here are a few deeper steps (beyond basic resets) that often fix Wide Vision camera issues:

1. Check privacy & app permissions

Go to:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera

Make sure:

  • Camera access → On
  • Let apps access your camera → On
  • Individual apps (Zoom, Teams, etc.) → On

Also check whether your laptop has a camera privacy key (often F8 or F10 with a camera icon).

2. Reinstall the camera driver completely

  1. Right-click Start → Device Manager
  2. Find the camera (or Unknown USB Device)
  3. Right-click → Uninstall device
  4. Check Delete the driver software
  5. Restart the laptop

Windows will reinstall a fresh driver.

3. Update the BIOS

Sometimes a BIOS update resolves camera detection issues.

You can install it from:
HP Support Assistant → Updates

4. Reset Windows Camera App

Go to:
Settings → Apps → Installed Apps → Camera → Advanced Options → Reset

5. If the camera does not show in Device Manager at all

This usually means:

  • a loose internal ribbon cable
  • or a hardware failure of the camera module

In that case, it would need service.

I hope this helps.
