Hi @YB0212,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Does the camera show a black screen in all apps (like Zoom, Teams, Camera app), or only in one specific program?
  • Did this issue start after a Windows update or driver installation?
  • Do you see the camera listed under Device Manager → Cameras?

In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Camera Privacy Settings
    • Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
    • Make sure camera access is turned On for apps you want to use.
  2. Update/Reinstall Camera Driver
    • Open Device Manager → expand Cameras.
    • Right-click your camera → choose Update driver.
    • If that doesn’t help, select Uninstall device, then restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
  3. Run HP Support Assistant
    • Open HP Support Assistant (pre-installed on most HP laptops).
    • Run a full check for driver and firmware updates.
  4. Test with HP Camera App
    • Search for Camera in the Start Menu and open the Windows Camera app.
    • If it still shows black, this confirms a driver or hardware issue.
  5. Check Physical Camera Shutter
  • Some HP models have a physical privacy shutter or a function key (like F8) to enable/disable the camera. Please ensure it’s open and enabled.

I hope this helps.
