How are you connecting the two -- hardware cable of WiFi/Bluetooth?
If the former, right-click on the desktop and choose Display Options. If you see two screen images in the Windows then Windows sees the device and if you experiment with the Mirror/Extend options, it should work. If you see only one screen image, then Windows does not see the device and there is nothing you can do.
If the latter, then you will need to contact the device vendor to see how you have to configure the settings on both your laptop and the device to get this to work.
