Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

My e271i doesnt show any image, altough my mac recognizes the monitor.

 

The monitor is connected to my macbook through a vga cable, this is connected to an hdmi to vga, and that is connected to a hdmi to usb c adapter.

 

Every time when I start the monitor, it just gets back to sleep. I cant change anything in the settings of the monitor, every time I go into the menu and try to choose vga, it just doesnt confirm it and the select option rests there.

 

Where is the problem? The  macbook seems to do it's job, the monitor not.
