so i purchased this laptop about 7 to 8 months ago and after only 2 months its touchpad started acting crazy like automatically clicking , dragging , double clicking and triple clicking uncontrollably now I managed somehow with a external mouse for about a month but at times when I cant use the mouse it became really hard to use the laptop so I reported it to hp customer service and they sent a engineer at my place when he looked at it he said its just because of a loose wire connection of the touchpad and I have fixed it then it was okay until today it started acting the same way I don't know how the wire got loose again ? and now my warranty has expired and I don't know what to do about it

Hi @ks_charan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the touchpad on your OMEN by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop is malfunctioning due to hardware or software issues. Here's how you can address this problem.
Check for Dirt or Debris
- Clean the touchpad gently using a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
- Ensure there are no substances or physical obstructions interfering with the touchpad.
Update or Reinstall the Touchpad Driver
Update Driver:
- Go to Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click the touchpad driver (usually Synaptics or ELAN) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Driver:
- Right-click the touchpad driver and choose Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop; Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
Adjust Touchpad Sensitivity
- Open Settings (Windows + I).
- Navigate to Devices > Touchpad.
- Adjust sensitivity to a lower level (e.g., from High Sensitivity to Medium Sensitivity).
Disable Touchpad When Using an External Mouse
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Check the option to disable the touchpad when an external mouse is connected.
Run Hardware Diagnostics
- Use HP Hardware Diagnostics to check for hardware faults:
- Restart the laptop and press F2 repeatedly to open the diagnostics menu.
- Run a Component Test for the touchpad.
- Note any error codes for follow-up.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
