Hi @Naq9,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Victus 16 r-0035NT laptop is equipped with an HDMI output for connecting to external displays. While the specifications might mention DisplayPort (DP) capabilities, it doesn't necessarily mean there is a physical DisplayPort connector on the laptop itself. Instead, DisplayPort functionality might be accessible through other ports, like USB-C, which can support DP Alt Mode.

Checking Your Ports

First, let's clarify the available ports on your laptop:

  1. HDMI Output: This is a standard HDMI port for connecting to monitors, TVs, or projectors.
  2. USB-C Port: Some USB-C ports support DisplayPort Alt Mode, allowing you to use a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter.

Options for Connecting to a DisplayPort Monitor

Since your laptop primarily has an HDMI output, you have a couple of options for connecting to a monitor that requires DisplayPort input:

HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter

  • Description: An HDMI to DisplayPort adapter allows you to connect your HDMI output to a DisplayPort input on a monitor.
  • Usage: Plug the HDMI end into your laptop and the DisplayPort end into your monitor.
  • Note: Ensure that the adapter supports the required resolution and refresh rate of your monitor.

USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter

  • Description: If your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, you can use a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter.
  • Usage: Plug the USB-C end into your laptop and the DisplayPort end into your monitor.
  • Checking DP Alt Mode Support: Refer to your laptop's manual or HP's website to confirm if your USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.

Steps to Determine the Best Option

Identify Supported Modes: Verify if your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.

  • Check Manual/Specs: Look up the detailed specifications or user manual for your HP Victus 16 r-0035NT.
  • HP Support: Visit HP's support page or contact their customer service for clarification.

Select an Appropriate Adapter: Based on your findings, choose either an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter or a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter.

  • HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter: Suitable if you prefer using the HDMI port.
  • USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter: Preferred if the USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, as it might offer better performance and resolution support.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
