I just bought a new HP spectre 360 13-4280 with windows 10. It has a HDMI Port and a Minidisplay Port. I want to connect it to my old HP monitor HP L1940T with a VGA port and a DVI-D port. I tried to connect from HDMI to VGA via an adapter, but it does not work. Any suggestions on how to connect this new ultrabook with the old monitor? Many thanks in advance!

At least stay digital. This is a mini-DP to DVI which should work:

Many thanks for this suggestion! However, is there any way to know in advance if this will actually work? Anyone that has tried it? I'd hate to buy another adapter just to find out that it does not work either. I had a quick chat earlier with a HP-guy who claimed that it would not work....

I'm not in the business of guaranties. If you don't like the advice keep working without a monitor or go back to the chatting genius and see if he has a suggestion. I am about 99.8% sure it will work but I do not own every laptop HP sells and I have not tried every adapter.
