hp rechargeable active G3 pen paired to HP envy but doesn't respond when touching screen

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Purchased the rechargeable active G3 pen to replace the one that came with the Envy. The G3 paired fine and the A button works but it won't respond or interact with the screen. My finger works but the pen doesn't. Anyone experience this?
