Hi @Minal27,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Are you facing this issue in all applications (like Word, Excel, browsers), or only in specific programs?
  • Did the Insert key ever work before on your HP OmniBook 14, or is this the first time you’re trying to use it?
  • Do you notice if the key responds at all (for example, does the keyboard backlight or any indicator change when pressed)?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Alternate Key Combinations
    • On some  laptops, the Insert function is combined with another key. Try pressing Fn + E or Fn + R depending on your keyboard layout, as these sometimes map to Insert.
  2. Test in Different Applications
    • Open Microsoft Word or Notepad and press the Insert key to see if it toggles between Insert and Overwrite mode. This helps confirm if the issue is application-specific.
  3. Update Keyboard Drivers
    • Go to Device Manager > Keyboards, right-click your keyboard driver, and select Update driver.
    • Restart your HP OmniBook after updating.
  4. Check HP Support Assistant
    • Run HP Support Assistant to check for any pending updates for your device, especially BIOS or keyboard firmware updates.
  5. External Keyboard Test
    • If possible, connect an external USB keyboard and test the Insert key there. If it works, the issue may be with the laptop’s built-in keyboard.
  6. Keyboard Settings in Windows
  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard and ensure no accessibility features (like Sticky Keys or Filter Keys) are interfering with normal key functions.

I hope this helps.
