Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have a difficult problem on my hands regarding my HP Envy laptop.

The issue is that the display flickers once in a while, not much, just it goes dark for half a second and then goes on again like nothing happened. As if there would be a glitching cable.

My main concern is that i am unable to provoke the error there for i cannot pinpoint what causes it or what the source of the issue might be.

For all i know atm it could be an issue with windows (however unlikely) but i do suspect that it is related to the MB. I do not think it is the display itself since if it were, it usually is more consistent and obvious in such cases. I do not suspect a glitching cable either in this case since nothing happens when i open and shut the lid.

This issue has existed for months, but i have until recently just brushed it off as a "one-time thing" but since it seems to persist, even if uncommon, it seems likely that there is some faulty hardware. I am also a bit skeptical about taking it in for service since if it is the motherboard, unless you are lucky, the only reason to find out is to actually replace the motherboard and see if the issue persists.

I have less than 3 months of warranty left on this unit and i am at this stage unsure of how to proceed. I have of course already tried the standard procedures as reinstalling os, cleaning the system, updating drivers etc.

Best regards,

JO_AND

Before sending the Notebook for repair, let's ensure it is not a drivers or Windows issue

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊
