Hi @xaviejoe,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your laptop keyboard and touchpad work in the BIOS setup, but not after booting into Windows; it indicates a software issue. Here are the  steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check Touchpad and Keyboard Settings:

  • Make sure the touchpad is enabled in the Mouse Properties.

  • To check keyboard settings, ensure that the keyboard has no unusual configurations or shortcuts enabled.

Perform a Restart:

  • Sometimes, simply restarting the notebook may resolve software glitches impacting input devices.

  • Select Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart.

BIOS Setup:

  • Ensure the touchpad and keyboard are enabled in the BIOS Setup utility. Press F2 during boot to enter BIOS Setup and check settings related to integrated peripherals.

Update or Reinstall Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager in the Control Panel.

  • Update or reinstall drivers for both the keyboard and touchpad.

  • Right-click on the device, select Uninstall, and restart your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall drivers automatically.

Use an External Mouse or Keyboard:

  • Connect an external mouse/keyboard to navigate and make changes in your laptop settings or to facilitate system troubleshooting.

Perform a System Reset:

  • If none of these solutions work, consider performing a system restore to a point where the devices were working correctly.

  • Ensure all your data is backed up before performing a system restore.

Check for External Software Conflicts:

  • Disable any recent software installations that might conflict with the keyboard and touchpad functionality.

  • Check for third-party security programs or utilities that could be interfering.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
