Pavilion 15 n203nx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptops screen does not turn on after restart or sleep, the laptop itself does turn on, but the screen stays black, not even the boot menu is shown, i have to restart it multiple times to get it working.

None of it worked (didn't do the system recovery)

But this problem started after windows update

A performing system recovery will revert windows back to the original factory default.

What happens when you start the computer? Does it boot into windows desktop?

Keep me posted.

Have you tried connecting the laptop display to an external display?

If you are able to see the display on an external Monitor or TV then its a hardware related issue and computer needs to be serviced.

Keep me posted.

the secondary screen does work
but i'm sure its not a hardware problem, because any loose connection would be recognizable as the display would turn on and of by jerking the laptop, i have opened the laptop and checked the cable myself, and the display comes on only after i restart the machine about 6 to 10 times(there's no need to change the position of the lid or jerk the laptop), i tried the windows reset option, nothing changed

the weird thing is that while the laptops screen does not turn on and i use the secondary screen, along the laptops screen the multitouch gestures of the touchpad also stops working( the touchpad itself works) and the cursor speed becomes slow.
and yeah, while the laptops screen isnt working, the system detects the laptop screen (i checked from the device manager) and display settings shows that i have 2 screens( one my laptops and one the led i'm using) .

by cursor i meant pointer, sorry

@tayyab_bilal

thank you for posting back.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Let's perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
