Hi.

I Have a Dv7-7334EA laptop and a Sony KDL-50W829 TV and ive been trying to the screen mirroring but with no success.  The TV sees the laptop but won't connect.  With the intel HD graphics 4000 driver built into the laptop, I'm assuming it has the capability of MIRACAST and WIDI.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi.

Finally managed to get it sorted after a lot of aggravation.

Basically, uninstall all existing graphics drivers and any intel programs.  Manually Install the microsoft graphics driver which is available on the PC.  Download and install the latest Intel graphics driver from the intel website ( if you  dont install the microsoft graphics driver first, you cannot install the intel graphics driver due to and OEM conflict between the Intel driver and the preinstalled HP grahics driver).  Download and install http://downloadcenter.intel.com/DownloadManager.aspx?lang=eng&httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.c... Open the zip file and select the correct version for your OS.   Download and install the intel widi update tool http://supportkb.intel.com/wireless/wireless-display/templates/selfservice/intelwidi/#portal/1026/ar... This will also ask to download the intel Proset wireless software.  Once installed, open the widi software ( this may need  a search on the pc to find it (win+s) amd type widi. Launch this and add screen through this.  The  duplicate screen now works wirelessly.

If you don't delete all the intel apps and drivers, It will not work.

I grasp that you are trying to connect the TV to you notebook but have been unsuccessful in mirroring  the display.  The TV  sees the notebook but will not connect.

You stated you were unsure if it supported Miracast and your graphic card does. Miracast + Intel HD4000

Here are two links to assist you with this endeavor.

I tried to connect my HP CHROMEBOOK 14 to the TV. Somehow I got my machine to show only my desktop. No status bar. No settings. Nothing. Reboot. Nothing. Just my desktop picture. Occasionally in the lower right a box will show up briefly to say I've chosen this screen configuration but it won't let me undo the deed. Suggestions?

I understand that you are connecting to a TV.  You did get the desktop to display but you have no settings.

I see you have a Chromebook 14 but you did not state which one.

How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

How are you connecting it to the TV?

Here is a document  on Connect to monitors  for the Chrome OS.

Here is a YouTube Video that may also help.  Cable to connect Chromebook to TV

I hope this helps.  If you would like further assistance, please provie  your model of Chromebook and the connection you are using.  The results from the troubleshooting would also be helpful/

I use a HDMI connection to TV and pc. It's a Sanyo 27 inch,  SV370XVT. It was shut down since last night and I have the desktop with status bar. I can get into setting and followed the HP instructions for connecting to TV and monitor. In Manage displays window I am offered "Internal Display " and the SV370XVT. CHOOSE the TV and clicked Start mirroring. When I click the screen now shows my browser opened to HBO GO with the manage displays window on top. All options are greyed out except Stop mirroring and the viewing area shrank and gives me about 2 inches of black background on both sides
