You need to contact the support team and they will be able to assist you in this regard. The procedure to replace the LED is not available in the service guide for your computer.

I hope you understand.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details and I would appreciate if you could, perhaps elaborate on your concern.

  • What is the exact model for your computer?
  • Is the battery getting charged correctly and is the computer working in the battery mode?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Look forward to hearing from you and you have a great day!

Take care.

Cheers!

My laptop is a HP Notebook 17-YO54NA

Purchased from Dixons 4 Oct 2016

Light shows clear when connected to mains electricity .  When recharging battery it shows Red.

At home I always use it on mains electricity.

Battery check shows it is 100% fully charged.

Where has my light gone to?

Thank you for replying and helping.

Is the battery getting charged correctly? Is the computer working in battery mode?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105501-106000/sp105711.exe

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Is the issue resolved now?

BIOS is the firmware used to perform hardware initialization during the booting process (power-on startup) and to provide runtime services for operating systems and programs.

Dear The Fossette

Your reference to the BIOS  is not helpful even if I could work out exactly what it is and where it is located.

I have a feeling it is not such a complicated issue.

Light on - Light off.. No computer operations are affected. A display issue only.

Perhaps now this notebook is gaining some age, it will begin to throw up anomalies.

Thank you for trying to help anyway.

Is the issue only with the charging light beside the charger? If the light is not coming on, however, the battery is getting charged then the led might have gone bad and needs replacement.

I recommend you contact support and they will assist you with the available service options.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Cheers!

Dear FOSSETTE,

YES.. I do think that as suggested , the LED light next to connector needs replacing.

Could you suggest how I can replace it!  I am out of warranty and although purchased from

Dixons plus Know How insurance they are not an organisation I would use again.

I could give them a very very bad write-up but I don't want to get sued..

Many Thanks

Carole19

Note: thank you for the email but unable to reply by that contact.
