Envy 17t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The touchscreen on my Envy 17t stopped working.  It shows up in Device Manager under Human Interface Devices as "HID-compliant touch screen" and says "The device is working properly" with the driver provider and date set to Microsoft, 6/21/2006.  I have disabled, (re)enabled, uninstalled, and (re)installed, with and without reboots multiple times.  Although the joy is low, I retain hope.

Under "Properties" and "Events" it lists "Device XXXXX was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match."  Searching the web and this forum, it's recommended to manually get & install the driver from the manufacturer.  But when I enter my SN and PN at hp for a list of drivers, there isn't one for the touchscreen.  Any help finding the driver?  Or any other suggestions?

Thank you!

@ottenm Welcome to HP Community!

Did you check if the touchscreen works in the BIOS Screen?

  • This would help us determine if this is either a software or hardware related issue, hence I request you tap on F10 during a PC restart and check if you can use the touch feature to select options outside windows.
  • If it doesn't work, this could be a hardware malfunction.
  • If it works, please use the HP website to download all the latest drivers for your device using this link: click here

Thank you for your suggestions Riddle-Decipher!   The touchscreen started working again two days ago and has continued to work through about 5 reboots.  I did try using the touchscreen in the BIOS on each reboot, but no response there (it only works after Windows loads).

I went to the driver screen you suggested, but when I enter my SN and PN for a list of drivers, there isn't one for the touchscreen.  Would the Microsoft 2006 driver be the only one available?

I also stopped moving/closing the screen, worried there might be a loose connection in there somewhere.  Will try again once I have time to mess with it in case it goes out ....

@ottenm If the device isn't working on the BIOS as well, this seems to be a hardware malfunction and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

here's how private messages work: Click here for details.

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
