Hi @Cameron-Wing,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.
May I have the exact product name and number? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
Did it work before?
Check HDMI Cable: Ensure that you're using a functioning HDMI cable. Try using a different HDMI cable to rule out any cable-related issues.
TV Input Source: Make sure your TV is set to the correct HDMI input source. Use your TV remote to switch to the HDMI input that corresponds to the HDMI port you've connected your laptop to.
Laptop HDMI Output: Check that you've connected the HDMI cable to the correct HDMI output port on your HP Omen 16 laptop. Some laptops have multiple video output options.
Windows Display Settings:
a. Right-click on your desktop and select "Display settings."
b. Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings."
c. Under "Multiple displays," make sure you've selected "Extend" or "Duplicate" (whichever you prefer).
Graphics Driver Update: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website or the website of your graphics card manufacturer (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to download and install the latest drivers.
Reboot: Sometimes, simply rebooting both your laptop and TV can resolve HDMI connection issues.
Check for Loose Connections: Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the TV. A loose connection can cause problems.
Test with Another Device: If possible, try connecting another device (e.g., a different laptop or gaming console) to the same HDMI port on your TV to confirm that the TV's HDMI input is working correctly.
Resolution and Refresh Rate: Make sure that your laptop's display settings match the supported resolution and refresh rate of your TV. You can adjust these settings in the Windows Display settings.
Try Another HDMI Port: If your TV has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting to a different one to see if the issue persists.
Disable and Re-enable HDMI Output: Sometimes, disabling and then re-enabling the HDMI output in your laptop's display settings can help.
Firmware/Software Update: Check if there are any firmware or software updates available for your TV or laptop that might address HDMI connectivity issues.
Try Another TV: If possible, try connecting your HP Omen 16 to a different TV to see if the issue is specific to the TV.
Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the HDMI port on your laptop and TV for any physical damage. Bent pins or damaged connectors can cause connection problems.
Use an Adapter: If your laptop has a different type of video output (e.g., DisplayPort, USB-C), you may need to use an appropriate adapter to connect to HDMI.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve most HDMI connection issues between your HP laptop and your TV.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
