HP Laptop 17-by0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Laptop 17-by0xxx. It has a Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter.

I just got the laptop back today from the repair center. It had a hinge that was breaking loose from the base of the laptop.

According to the paperwork they sent back with it, they replaced the base enclosure, the top cover and the hinge cover. It also says they performed "extensive testing."

So now my 5 ghz WiFi connection is disconnecting intermittently. I usually have to turn the WiFi off and back on again and it reconnects. I have had this problem a few times before I had it repaired but not consistently. My WiFi router is about 10 feet across the room from me line of sight, nothing is in the way.

Now here is what is weird. My 2.4 ghz network barely shows. Using InSSIDer, I see a signal strength down at -88 dBm. I fired up another WiFi router I have and it's showing a signal strength of -91 dBm. My 5 ghz signal strength is running about -38 dBm.

Prior to sending it off, my 2.4 Ghz signal strengths were fine. I also saw (and could connect to) SSID's provided by the RV park I live in. I cannot even see those now. Also, my phone shows the signal strength of all available SSID's as about normal.

I'm pretty sure I'd have the dual antenna setup. Is it possible that they didn't reconnect one of the antennas? Does one antenna do 2.4 ghz and one do 5 ghz? (I know I also have bluetooth.)

I'm pretty frustrated. This is my only computer and I just got it back. I hate to have to send it back yet again. It's already been in once before for a hard drive failure. I'm beginning to think I got a lemon.

Thanks,
