Hello.

I would like to change wifi card in my HP Envy 17 j003er so as it would support 5 ghz Wifi.

Can I replace the card? its' not built-in?

And what card would be compatible?

Hi:

 

The specs for your notebook indicate that it comes with an Intel processor, correct?

 

If so, you can upgrade to this dual band AC wifi card...

 

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

 

The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon, and doesn't cost  much at all.

 

Do your search by the HP part number, not by the model number of the wireless card.

 

Here is the link to the service manual for your model.  The wifi card R & R procedure can be found in chapter 5.

 

It is pretty easy to replace the wifi card in your model notebook.

  • only use in HP lapop. Recommend of use Wireless module same as original part number (SPS).

but 1 small question

in manual there is 710662-001   part with AC, cannot find 710661-001 there

 

is it ok?

You're very welcome.

 

The 3160 is not as good as the 7260.  It is a 1 x 1 card and runs at half the speed of the 7260.
