I just had Spectrum 5g installed in my house. I have the modem and wireless router operating. My Android smartphone connects great but my model 17 wireless is working but it cannot see my router. My Pavillion wireless see's other surrounding routers except mine. My model 17 was purchased in 2015 but never was used for internet use. So is my model 17 wireless hardware unable to work with 5g?
Thank you!

Hi:
Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook.
HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-g149ds (Touch) (ENERGY STAR) Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support
It comes with a single band (2.4 GHz only) wifi adapter, which is why your notebook cannot connect to the 5.0 GHz wifi band.
Anytime you see a wifi card N spec that ends in 802.11b/g/n, it means that it is a single band wifi adapter.
Dual band wifi N adapters have suffixes that end in a/b/g/n or a/g/n.
The parts list for your notebook indicates that it comes with the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter.
Here are the specs on that card...2.4 GHz only.
