I have a DV5-1225ca laptop. It came with vista but right away I loaded windows 7 64 bit. I am having trouble with the wireless connection where it frequently stops working and I have to run the windows troubleshooter to fix it which says it has reset the wireless adapter. My router is a d link N router outputting N only. My drivers are as current as windows can find. Any suggestions? Is this a problematic wireless adapter and should I replace it?

From what I can find it seems that this is just a peice of junk card with no windows 7 support. Looks like they ship this laptop now with a broadcom card instead. You can get a wireless N braodcom on ebay for $15 shipped. I am going to do that.

On boot press F8 and choose Safe mode. (It's important to do it this way)
Go to Control Panel -> Devices Manager -> Network Cards
and find there Atheros wireless. Click on it with right button of Your mouse and choose uninstall driver.
Restart Your system and this time start it in normal mode.
Now install this driver:
Atheros Wireless here (ver 126.96.36.199 for 32/64 bit Win7)

I was having the same problem. I installed the driver you recommended and now I have a very stable connection. The only problem is that now I am limited to 54Mbs even with a draft n router. I don't mind giving up the speed for a reliable connection though.

There are now few new modded drivers for this wireless card.
Uninstall Your current driver for Atheros wireless.
Try drivers from this site.
You should test from there v188.8.131.529, v184.108.40.2066 and v220.127.116.11.
Please report about Your results.

This is what I did to fix my atheros 5009 problem.
I uninstalled all other drivers I tried and installed the driver from windows update and found that to be the only one working reliably at n speeds.
Remove all oem*.inf and oem* .pnf files that have atheros driver information in them from \windows\inf folder.
connected thr' ethernet and ran windows update.
it found the driver and sucessfully installed it for me.
wifi works great now!
