This is a brand-new machine. Every time the computer goes to sleep when it wakes up it cannot connect to WIFI. I have to restart the laptop to get the WIFI to wake up.
One suggestion is that it is a power management issue. The problem is that when I follow these steps, my Wi-Fi driver does not have a "power management tab." Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi @seb1970,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
That is an excellent description and a great diagnosis. It is greatly appreciated.
I understand how inconvenient it must be to have to restart your brand-new HP Envy x360 every time it wakes up from sleep just to reconnect to Wi-Fi. Let's try to get this issue sorted.
- Have you checked if the Wi-Fi adapter driver is up to date? Sometimes outdated drivers can cause issues with connectivity after waking from sleep.
Are you experiencing this issue with all Wi-Fi networks or just a specific one?
Let's try these steps. If tried already you may ignore it.
Update the Wi-Fi Adapter Driver
- Go to Device Manager and expand the Network Adapters section. Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and choose Update Driver. Select Search automatically for updated driver software to ensure your driver is the latest version.
2. Disable “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
- Even though you don’t see a power management tab, sometimes the setting to disable the adapter is still set in Device Manager.
- Open Device Manager > Network Adapters > right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties.
- Under the Advanced tab, check if there’s any setting related to power-saving (e.g., “Energy Efficient Ethernet,” “Power Save Mode,” etc.). Set it to Disabled.
3. Adjust Power Settings in Windows
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and click on Change plan settings for your active power plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings and find the Wireless Adapter Settings. Set it to Maximum Performance for both On battery and Plugged in.
4. Disable Fast Startup
- Fast startup can sometimes cause issues with hardware like Wi-Fi adapters after waking from sleep. To disable it:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Under Shutdown settings, uncheck Turn on fast startup and click Save changes.
5. Reinstall the Wi-Fi Driver
- If updating the driver didn’t help, try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Go to Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter, and select Uninstall Device. Then, restart your laptop and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
