You're very welcome.

Yes, a USB dual band wifi adapter would be easier to install than taking apart your notebook.

They make some nano-size dual band USB AC wifi adapters that hardly stick out of the USB port.

I don't have any specific recommendations, but here is a list of several you can research.

Look for the AC600 and AC1200 models.  The 600 models provide a max of 433 MBPS and the 1200 models provide a max of 867 MBPS.

Hi:

Since your notebook only has one antenna cable connected to the wifi card in there now, you would be limited to upgrading to this model wifi card only.

RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)   HP Part # L17365-005.

You can find one on eBay or on the HP parts store website.

With the adapter I suggested, the performance would be the same as you are getting now on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.

But on the 5.0 GHz band, the RTL8821CE has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS with an excellent wifi signal.

Thanks for the great info. Would it be a simpler solution to use an external Wi-Fi adapter and if so any recommendations.

Great advice Paul, I'm going with the ASUS NANO Dual-Band AC1200 wireless adapter.

Thanks for the help

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

If I was in the market for one of those, I think that model would be a good choice.
