A few hours ago my Wifi randomly deactivated and now cannot be turned on again. If i try, it will be on for about 3 seconds before automatically turning off again. I've tried rebooting my laptop, disabling & enabling the wifi card, checking all the settings but nothing helps.

I was trying out a new VPN provider shortly before it happened, could that be the cause? I deinstalled it but that also didn't help.

After hours of googling and talking to the (very helpful & friendly) HP support service I finally have found a solution that seems to work:

  • Deactivating all WAN Miniports in the device manager
  • Running the following command: netsh wlan stop hostednetwork

I don't know why this problem suddenly occured or why this solution worked.
