Cannot connect to WiFi unless I am in the same room as my router

HP Notebook 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I sent my laptop to Squretrade to be fixed, it kept shutting off and the keys were sticking. They replaced the keyboard and battery. Now, I cannot connect to my WiFi unless I am in the same room as my router. I have other devices, laptops, tablets, phones, in the home that have no problem and still show other WiFi conenctions in my neighborhood. I had no problem with connecting before I sent it to them.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I wish I had good news for you -- but I don't ...

While a laptop has a WiFi chip soldered to the motherboard, it also has an antenna mounted inside the case.

My guess is that they disconnected that antenna when they disassembled your laptop and failed to reconnect it.

Without that antenna, your WiFi range is only going to be a few feet -- as you have noticed.

You have to contact the folks that worked on your laptop and have THEM address this problem.

Good Luck
