I would like to change out the wifi adapter card, an Intel Centrino Wireless-N2230 with a dual band card capable of connecting to 5G. How do I do that?

You can replace the current Intel 2230 with this one...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001
The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon, and doesn't cost very much at all.
Search by the HP part number, not by the model number of the wireless card.
Below is the link to the service manual. The wifi card R & R procedures can be found in chapter 5.
