My laptop has a Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter driver. does this support 5Ghz wifi?

Hi,

No, it does not support 5GHz.

You will either need to replace the wifi module or use a USB Wifi dongle.

You need an ac module or USB.
