HP ProBook 430 G5
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi, I Plan to change the Networking card in my HP ProBook 430 G5 with the following:

Screenshot 2020-12-23 at 20.58.22.png

(DELL DW1820 Dual Band 802.11ac NGFF 867Mbps WiFi & BT 4.1 WLAN Wireless Card)

Does the HP Probook 430 G5 Have a WiFi Module Whitelist?

An also is the card compatible?

Hi:

No one here can tell you if your notebook has a BIOS whitelist.  HP does not release that information.

Generally notebooks made in 2014 or later do not have BIOS whitelists with very few exceptions.

I can't imagine that the Dell card you selected would be any better than the one currently installed in your notebook.

If you want to upgrade the wifi card, I recommend this model...

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 802.11ax 2 × 2 + Bluetooth 5 (non-vPro)   HP part # L35282-002.

You can buy one directly from the HP parts store...22.31 quid.

HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

(I want to purchase That)^^
can you confirm/deny this

P.S I can confirm my laptop has the right M.2 (A+E Key) port so the card with physically fit in...

Thanks

Hi:

Unfortunately I wouldn't know if that card would work or not.

For $2.00 it is a pretty low risk gamble if it doesn't work.

I Just want to know if the m.2 Key is compatible as they Manual shows another m.2 key... but youtube videos show the A+E key

HP Recommended

It shouldn't matter.

Any M.2 wifi card will fit in the M.2 slot.

There is only going to be one key in the slot, not two, so nothing to block the card from fitting in the slot.

Sorry, the WiFi Card Slot

HP Recommended

Hi:

As I explained above the wifi card's M.2 slot is going to have one key, not two.

So any wifi card with one or two notches cut into the contacts is going to fit.

The key is going to be where the inner notch is in the model  of the wifi card you posted.

The other notch is not going to make contact with the contacts in the M.2 slot.

If you look at chapter 5, page 38 of the service manual, you will see what I am referring to.

Notice the illustration of a wifi card with only one notch.  Wifi cards with two notches have that one notch in the same place so it will fit in the wifi M.2 slot key.
