Hello, I bought a HP840 G3, with windows 10 installed, have placed windows7 pro on it, but cant get the internet to connect, have installed; Realtek PCIe Family Controller.

However laptop wont connect still, everything seems to work with win7pro, have access to USB ports no problem.

Hi Gary,

You are connecting by ethernet? (cable)

Do you have a dongle which was optional with the PC?

You say you have installed the Realtek driver. From where? From your driver support page?

What does it say in Device Manager under Network adapters?

Lookin at the service  I see that possibly one of these two devices for LAN is in the notebook:

Intel 1219LM 10/100/1000 Ethernet with iAMT

Intel WGI219V 10/100/1000 Ethernet non vPr

which would require this driver:

Hope it helps,

David

Hi David, firstly, thank you for your reply, that driver connected to the internet first time, then have managed to down load a number of windows updates and the connection stopped.

What I am seeing is the internet icon at the bottom right of screen it has a red cross, however its flickering in and out from time to time with the swirling circle as though its trying to connect, however just the circle swirls for a moment then back to a red cross and not able to connect.

Thanks, Gary

Hi David, after about 3 hrs, just waiting, the internet connection came on permanent, and have now download all windows updates, seems solid now, so all is good.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Gary
