Can I upgrade to a dual band wireless card and if so any suggestions on a card?

Your laptop is old enough to be subject to the HP BIOS "whitelist" which limits the use of any wireless card not offered by HP at the time of production and bearing an HP Part number. Particularly for the AMD models there are no 2.4/5ghz dual band options for your laptop consistent with the whitelist. Understand I am not excusing the whitelist. I was on record years ago opposing it and eventually HP dropped it but a couple product cycles after your model was manufactured. You might consider a usb wireless dongle. Sorry but this is the straight answer.
