OMEN Laptop - 15-en0036nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The Ethernet port has recently stopped working on my Omen 15. "Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller" is in my device list, but shows an error state. I am using the "Realtek" driver from 2019-11-18, driver version 10.38.1118.2019.

Device status for this adapter says:

The driver for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

The "Check for solutions..." button in the device settings seemingly does nothing.

I have also tried the HP Network Check but it does not seem to check the onboard Ethernet.

Any help debugging would be appreciated!

I'm trying the following steps:

  1. Right-click "This PC"
  2. Select "Manage"
  3. Click "Device Manager"
  4. Right click "Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller" under "Network adapters"
  5. Check "Delete the driver software for this device"
  6. Click "Uninstall"; the controller disappears from the list
  7. Open "Windows update"
  8. Click "Check for updates"

When I perform these steps, no updates are found. There are no relevant updates under "View optional updates."
