- Hardware HP 845 G6 Laptop with Windows 10 64bit.
- BIOS - Legacy Support disable and Secure Boot Enabled.
Issue: WIFI would not connect any known WIFI SID's while the BIOS Secure boot was optioned for Legacy Support disable and Secure Boot Enabled.
To get WIFI able to connect to the known SID's. performed the below steps.
1. Changed the BIOS secure boot to Legacy Support Enabled and Secure Boot Disabled.
2. When selecting the above option a popup stating something about DMA appeared not sure what it said but I confirmed.
3. BIOS was saved and restarted the Laptop. Was then able to connect to WIFI SID's.
4. Rebooted back into BIOS and changed secure boot back to Legacy Support Disabled and Secure Boot Enabled.
5. Rebooted Laptop and was still able to connect to the WIFI SID's.
Questions:
1. Why would these steps be needed to be able to get the WIFI adapter to connect to the WIFI SID's?
2. Since I did not write down the DMA popup message, would you know what it might have said?
3. What would have these steps done to correct the problem with the WIFI since I was able to change secure boot back to it's original option of "Legacy Support Disabled and Secure Boot Enabled" and WIFI still works?
