HP Envy & Verison Jetpack

HP ENVY - 17-u153nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a brnd new HP ENVY Notebook with an I7-7500 CPU Love this machine! I cannot however, get it to connect to my Verizon Jetpack MHS291LVW. It just sits there with a notifcation of checking network requirements. The 3 other laptops i have do not have any issues connecting to it. It took less then 30 seconds to connect my dell latitude E5430 to it. The only difference is all the other machines are Windows 7 and the HP is my first Windows 10 device. It took no time to connect the HP to my office WIFI just can't get it to connect to the JetPack, this is essential for when I am in the field.

HP Envy & Verison Jetpack

HI @DrMike54,

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!  🙂 Good day.  I read the post the computer not connecting to the Verizon jetpack. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

Stupendous diagnosis and spectacular analysis of the issue before posting.  Kudos to you on that score. It is always a privilege to work with technical specialists like you. 🙂

We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.:)

For batter clarity I would require more information regarding this:

  • Have you contacted Verizon in this regard?
  • Have you tried to connect this computer to an open wireless network at a library or a different hotspot?

I request you to perform these steps. If the computer connects to a different network or wifi hotspot, then there is nothing wrong with the computer’s wifi connection,

It is possible that certain settings relating to permissions and security have to be changed on the Verizon Jetpack for this computer to connect.

Hence I would request that you contact Verizon in this regard for further assistance if your computer works fine on other networks.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

HP Envy & Verison Jetpack

I found the solution to this, i had to find in Windows 10 where I could manually add a wireless network.

Setting the network to  WPA2 Personal, mathcing the Jetpack, this allowed me to connect to the Jetpack without any issues.

One of the other engineers got the same laptop that i did and it would not connect to my Jetpack either.

Hi @DrMike54,

I am very happy for you. The WPA2 security SSID is given to you by Verizon and We would not be aware of it. That is the reason I referred you to Verizon in this regard. I genuinely hope the unit stays healthy and works for a long time. 🙂

Thanks for the response and you've been magnanimous to share this information that will help several others with the same issue.
