HP Envy loses ability to see or connect to networks after sleep

I Have almost the same issue on my hp envy, but mine instead gives some weird ping spikes around 800 - 1000 ms. I'll Have to turn off it and wait some hours to get it to normal ping (30 - 20 ms) and not put it sleep cause if i put it to sleep i get those ping spikes after i open it up again. I Think the issue is really weird. (note that i bought this computer 2 days ago)

HP Envy loses ability to see or connect to networks after sleep

@juliusnilsson
Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
  • What is the operating system?
  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: ( do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating )

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open the HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

HP Envy loses ability to see or connect to networks after sleep

Hey,

So yesterday someone at hp tried helping me, he controlled my computer and saw that i didn't update so he updated it for me. But it has not solved the issue with the ping i am experiencing. My old HP laptop has no ping issue, so it has nothing to do with my internet. I Really just want it fixed since its very annoying to have this when using alot of internet based games/software.

HP Envy loses ability to see or connect to networks after sleep

@juliusnilsson
Thank you for posting back.

The last thing I can suggest trying is a restore back to the factory. Performing an HP system recovery (Windows ) While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
