Overnight my Wi-Fi stopped working so I can only get on the internet via Ethernet. I have tried many solutions but nothing has worked. This laptop is worthless to me if I can't connect to Wi-Fi.

Hi @cliftonboop,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I’m sorry to hear about your Wi-Fi issue—it must be incredibly frustrating to wake up and find that something as crucial as your internet connection isn’t working. Let’s work together to troubleshoot and resolve this.

  • Have you checked if other devices on the same Wi-Fi network are connecting without any issues?
  • Does your laptop show any Wi-Fi networks at all, or is the Wi-Fi option completely unavailable in the network settings?
  • Have you recently installed any updates, software, or drivers that might have caused this issue?

Check Wi-Fi Toggle: Ensure that the physical or keyboard-based Wi-Fi toggle (if present) is turned on. Sometimes, pressing the “Airplane Mode” or “Wi-Fi” function key accidentally disables the connection.

Restart Devices: Restart your laptop and your Wi-Fi router. A fresh reboot can resolve temporary glitches.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Troubleshoot and run the Network troubleshooter.
  • Follow any on-screen instructions to identify and fix the issue.

Verify the Wi-Fi Adapter:

  • Open Device Manager (press Win + X > select Device Manager).
  • Look under Network Adapters for your Wi-Fi adapter.
    • If it’s disabled, right-click and select Enable.
    • If it shows an error, right-click and select Update Driver.
  • If no Wi-Fi adapter is listed, select Action > Scan for hardware changes.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset.
  • Follow the prompts to reset your network configuration and reboot your laptop.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
