HP Envy x360 with the MediaTek 6E MT7922 network adapter continuously kills wi-fi on router

My new Hp ENVY x360 laptop contains the MediaTek  6E MT7922 network adapter. Every time I connect to my home wi-fi signal, this laptop seems to generate a random command to the router (NETGEAR AC 1750) that causes the router to completely shut down it's wi-fi signals after only a few minutes of use. This disrupts all devices in my home that are also connected to the wi-fi signal. I have been unable to find any suggestions for how to stop this behavior. Needless to say, this laptop will be useless if I cannot have it connected to wi-fi for more than a few minutes at a time. Please help.

Hello, the router ac1750 was launched in 2013. Compared to you WiFi card, quite old. I would look at device manager network settings and see what the card is set at. The card is WiFi 6e. Is preferred band set at 6e in device manager, it won’t work with ac router. In DM network, click on card, properties, advanced. The details should all be there. Check the options in each. Unfortunately, restricting the network adapter to the 2.4 G band selection only did not solve the problem. Any other thoughts?

Hello, I don’t think restricting the settings to 2.4 is helpful. The ac1750 should broadcast at both 2.4 and 5 ghz. and be backward compatible to all standards. In my network settings (DM) the top two changeable settings list all the standards plus ax for 6e. My 6e router has 2.4 and 5ghz broadcasting on the same SSD, set to auto. The 6ghz SSD set to auto was not doing anything till I upgraded with a new card in my laptop, then 6ghz came alive. All 11 devices five using 2.4 five using 5 and one using 6ghz. So I do believe there’s a conflict in the settings, all my devices were ok before and after installing WiFi 6e. Your router is probably broadcasting on separate SSDs 2.4 and 5. Any setting for 6e on your laptop in not going to work. I’ve read on a couple of forums if your card is set for https WPA3 security, it’s for 6ghz only, you want, WPA2 personal AES. Regards Al

Hello again. It seems your WiFi card is a bit frisky with a lot of questions about disconnecting. 
The problem maybe in bios, advice was to go into bios and change the settings. I’m just passing on what I have read, that advice was from Microsoft by the way. Best wishes Al
