OMEN by HP - 15-ce031tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,
I can't seem to detect my 5G wireless network on my OMEN.  Here are the details of my network card as shown below. wifiproblem.PNG

I look forward to your assistance as soon as possible.

@Kevin_Ng

Your machine uses a Realtek wifi adapter which supports dual band network (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz). Please do a clean install of wifi driver

(a) Download the following driver and save on your computer

     https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp87001-87500/sp87169.exe

(b) Go to Device Manager to uninstall Realtek network driver (wifi),

(c) Reboot machine,

(d) Right click downloaded file and select run as Administrator,

(e) Reboot machine.

Regards.

Hi,
I've tried the steps accordingly twice but it doesn't work out on the OMEN. I can only detect the 2.4GHz WiFi on my laptop. Meanwhile, my Samsung Galaxy Note FE has detected 2 of my wireless network which are 2.4GHz and 5GHz respectively.wifiproblem2.PNG

I look forward to your assistance again.

In my knowledge the 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter is a single band (2.4 Ghz) wifi adapter.

It cannot transmit or receive on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.

Anytime you see a wireless N adapter with a suffix that ends in bgn, that means it is a single band 2.4 Ghz only wifi adapter.

Dual band wireless N adapters have suffixes that end in abgn or agn.

I might be wrong though! Please consult the HP documentation or look online for a USB-External 5G WiFi Adapter? It looks like they cost just $$... Between $10 to $20.

Good Luck.
